Student Loan forgiveness BEFORE 1998

I have just a few thousand dollars of student loans left; including both undergrad and Master's work.  Part of my loans came before 1998 so I am not qualifying for ANY loan forgiveness. I have been a teacher for 20 years, 16 in a Title 1 School and 19 as a special education teacher.  I cannot believe how many new teachers are getting their loans forgiven, but after my years of service I cannot get a few thousand forgiven?

Is there something out there I'm missing?  Something that will help me?

At this point, likely no.

You could potentially re-consolidate into a new student loan, and that loan could be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness. But that would require 120 payments from today, moving forward - so 10 more years. You'll likely have paid off your loan balance by then.
