I am posting to ask if anyone knows how to get a loan forgiven for a person who has passed away?
I have a friend who lost his wife, she has a student loan and they are saying he is responsible for repayment of said loan. Can anyone advise me how to go about getting loan forgiveness in this type of situation. Thanks in advance for your help.

If she had Federal loans, then he isn't responsible. He just has to present a death certificate to the lender.

If he cosigned the loans, he is still responsible in most circumstances. Since he signed, they both technically owed the loans.

It all depends on the loan type.
